Pulmo (2024)

Pulmo is a piece inspired by the instrument for which it was composed, a medical imagery built around the accordion. It is a prosthetic vision of the instrument: a mechanical lung weighing over 10 kg strapped to the chest. To produce sound, the player has to breathe artificially. Pulmo is about this difficulty to breathe, this difficulty to exist.

Between 2021 and 2024, I improvised with various musicians ranging from duos to quintets. My set-up was based on no input, enhanced by a radio, a cell phone and a contact jack or piezo.
