“ Playersong is a video piece, a musical system that exists only through a visual process. Here, it's all about games. The medium's reproduction device, the video player, is used as an instrument. This instrumental playing - imitating the recorded image - questions the images produced by the « guntube » and their media nature. Like players in a video game, these men play with their collections of killing machines, mostly weapons of war. Disguised as an openly accessible spectacle, this game is not just staged, it's networked. “
Desktopsongs is a cycle of video pieces questioning our relationship with technology. Each work - inspired by desktop movie practice - is a musical system dependent on a visual process, tending towards an economy of the device.
