“ Plasforms is above all a visual composition, the relevance of the camera's absence, continuing in its time the plastic tradition of seeing. It is the exposure of the digital medium itself, a choreography of ghost images mechanically imitating the artificiality of a process.
After making the artwork I wrote theses words :
"With an average of 0.602 packages a day, I pack, repack and unpack a cyclical pile of plastics. Plasforms is an exhibition/explosion of this garbages in their motion : a cycle of openings/closures gradually transforming them into concrete and filmic material."
In reality, it's an escape, a displacement. Behind this work is no artist-god, but a young man selling packages on the Internet. His tools are teleworking, a printer and plastic wrapping. To support this idea, I had to make Plasforms, the displacement of the object of labor to the object of Art.
Inspired by painting on film and its concern with the materiality of its visual temporal support, I first scanned my plastic wrappings into dozens of photocompositions, interpreting the scanner's glass as a pictorial frame. Nevertheless, the medium I struggle against and work with is no more in the field of optics than the one of data, mass packaging and pixelation.
Morphing is the will of a false poetry, a crossbreeding of data that is merely the creation of a bastard calculated from an average. It is the heart of artificial intelligence, vomiting up food that has already been vomited up in an impoverishing leveling. Doubting that this is simply a model based on our human condition, I chose to attack it on its dysfunction. I aimed to show its artificial nature, pushing the effect to its limit in order to unmask it as a mere calculation, an allegory of the digital medium. “

“ Plasforms exposes the cyclical process of collecting and concentrating waste. A film in which the accumulation of packaging, bags and cardboard becomes the artist's own filmic material, which he transmutes into a kind of moving abstraction. The result is a sensory experience, in which infrared images constantly melt into a plastic that reminds us of digital glitch, and in which all these disposable materials return like lurking spectres. “
